Carlton Intercontinental - Cannes - France

Cannes has always been one of our favourite places to visit. Carlton Intercontinental became our choice to stay since Noga Hilton changed hand to JW Marriot. Located at the famous Croisette Boulevard overlooking the sea and surrounded by high-end boutiques. You cannot really miss this hotel, its beautiful facade and towers stand out among other five star hotel on the same boulevard.

In the last couple of years we have stayed in most room types. From their classic rooms, deluxe and also suites. The suite was quite exceptional. When we could, we always try to take an advantage of the spacious room and best view, by having breakfast in the room facing the sea.

It was lovely. Well.. at least it was until the rush hour started. On our last stay last week though, we booked our room online on their special offer. We ended up with an antiquated room located far end of the hotel's fifth floor. It has a noisy air conditioner, came with a view of a wall of building next door and if we look down, we got to see a garbage container! Interesting!

Never mind, we did not come all the way to cannes to spend most time in the room anyways. As usual we took a stroll around the shopping streets or sometimes, early morning jog along the promenade.

For dining experience, we preferred to dine at Carlton Restaurant instead of the Carlton Beach Restaurant. In our last experience, the Beach Restaurant served an enormous portion of food. Too touristy. Yet the Carlton Restaurant seemed to serve a normal portion of food. Well, that was how we noticed it anyways.
So far, this is the place we would recommend for a nice beef tartar, served with green salad and french fries. Their sea bass was not too bad and desserts were not disappointing. Mediocre quality of food overall. The male waiting staff were a little bit grumpy though while the female waiting staff were more friendly.

At this moment they have lobster special every Friday at €65 including a glass of champagne. We kept missing the chance to try it, unfortunately.
So, if you have tried it, let us know how it was!
