Swiss Chalet - Pearson Airport Toronto

The news suggested any travelers heading to the airport today to expect delays due to heavy traffic as people going home early for Halloween celebration. What a typical media exaggeration it was! We rushed ourselves to leave the hotel and skipped breakfast just to find out that there was hardly any traffic on the road. So we arrived at the airport six hours early! Ouch!

Even the check-in counter was not open. So we had to drag around our suitcases everywhere.
As we walked around, we finally found eatery called 'Swiss Chalet'. We immediately imagine a nice cheesy meals, potato rosti or even fresh baked bread. So we went in.
We soon realised that we may have just made a big mistake. We noticed a strong and horrible musty smell of old, stained carpet and fabric on the seats and grease that has been accumulated over years.

Oh well.. let's hold our breath, eat and go. Which exactly what we did. We quickly ordered eggs benedict, western omelette, a cup of tea and coffee. They were all delivered within less than ten minutes. Impressive speedy service.

The food were surprisingly good for a greasy spoon. Full of cheap fat, but no excessive salt was used. We would have enjoyed it more, had we were not put off by the unpleasant odor.
Other thing that we found also surprising was the fact we had a breakfast and dessert served on one plate! Beside the chips and toast, we found a packet of strawberry jam. Interesting! We never had that before. We did not try it though. We did not think strawberry jam would go nicely with ham and cheese omelette somehow..
