Chateau Mirambeau Bordeaux

We have stayed many times at this chateau and not once we were disappointed. Warm and welcoming staff at the entrance door, ready to assist us with the luggage. An impressive lounge decorated with period furnitures was just a perfect place to plunge ourselves into the sofa, stretching our legs and take a sip of home made ice tea and madeleine while the staff preparing our check in paper works. Once that completed the staff escorted us to our room. In there fresh flower and small sweet bites are waiting for you to be savoured.
When we arrived early, we normally take a stroll around the estate or enjoy an ice cold beer at the terrace or even take a dip in the indoor or outdoor swimming pool or have a little siesta in peace or even play a game of chess. Plenty to do before we got ourselves ready for diner.
7.30 PM.
Time to indulge ourselves with fine cuisine prepared by the chef.

Started with boiled egg with smoked foam and bacon served with truffle soldier and raw sea bass tartar with oyster and hint of tomato. They both were so delightful.
Followed by rack of lamb with carrot, courgette and sweet potato puree (tender, fat was still left on the skin, gave a beautiful flavour, almost as good as the lamb at Le Chalet de la Foret)
Accompanied by Sainte Luce Bellevue – Blaye 2002. Beautiful and inexpensive local wine produced about 20 minutes drive away from the chateau.
Cheese platter with sliced of granny smith and green grapes went perfectly with velvety port wine. Continued by dark chocolate soufflĂ© with pistachio ice cream, slightly overcooked, a little bit dry. Pistachio ice  cream was too heavy to company the soufflĂ©, in our opinion. But it was us being fussy.
We finished of the evening with a couple cognac and coffee.

Waking up fresh the next morning, we had ourselves dressed up ready to taste Mirambeau breakfast at the conservatory. It consisted of continental breakfast and cold cuts and cheeses.
Fresh orange juice, earl grey and coffee. Just enough to start the day. Delightful!

PS: There is a local wine shop just out side of the chateau if you fancy to take back few bottles of Bordeaux wine. Not to be missed!
